For all we know,

there is that much more

that we do not know.

Bio...as in Biography

I define my style as unapologetically old-school. I aspire to clean living and hard work. Pappy always teased me that a clean shirt and a hard day's work would kill me. He worked 53 years in a coal mine; we will never know work like that. I like chalk and markers, books and journals, and other real stuff to hold in my hands. I do like some of what technology offers but could easily give up my cell phone at any time. I do, however, like the productivity aspect of a computer and as you will witness, I can actually maintain my own website--small wonder!

I am a daughter, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a dog-mom. I was blessed to be a role-fulfilling daughter until the fall of last year (2020).  Dad died just short of his 91st birthday. What an amazingly long life lived well. You'll hear some of his escapades...and Mom's as well. What a great influence they were on my life. We built our house on two parcels of land adjacent to my folks' two parcels--so they were my parents, neighbors, and friends. We lost my mother in 2012--It's comforting to have no regrets, but we've missed her tremendously. My husband works for the district as well--you've probably seen him around from time-to-time. My brother works in the business world and built a home in Gallatin National Forest very near Yellowstone. My niece and nephew are both fairly recent graduates of USC Vertibi School of Engineering. One is a civil engineer, the other is a biomedical engineer working in the entertainment sector. Dogs are near and dear to me--so much we gain by being caretakers of all sorts of pets. We recently added a tortoise to our menagerie!

I am a life-long resident of the unincorporated area west of here toward Hinkley. I graduated from these hallowed halls in 1980. This will be my 38th year teaching. While here in school, I liked to study Spanish, math, and yes, science. I am completely biliterate in Spanish. I received my bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University in 1984. Good times! I did graduate studies at California Lutheran University to obtain my bilingual credential and finished with a Master's Degree from California State University, San Bernardino. I taught my first five years in Moorpark Unified School District beginning in 1984, then came back home and have been teaching here in the district ever since.

We live rurally and rather simply on a big chunk of property. I could do without most television...maybe all of it. I like country music and hymns. I can play piano--I'm not gifted, but I get by. I love the outdoors; summer is my favorite season. We have fish ponds, so that's always interesting. I'm quite the old-fashioned, naturalist-eclectic. I can drive a tractor and use a chain saw like I was born to...because I was! I like to garden, bake and sew--very homebody. Past students have likened me to Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus series or a Hallmark channel movie lady. Hmmm...
